Sir Reginald

Origins

Sir Reginald arrived in Snowdrift Bay riding a bicycle, wearing full armor, and asking where the nearest “Hall of Oaths and Sworn Declarations” might be found. He never explained exactly where he came from—though he claims to have once served “a noble court now long faded into myth and dust.”

He simply appeared one day, signed up for a community safety workshop, and by the following week was officially hired as Snowdrift Bay’s security guard.

When asked why he chose this town, he answered:

“There is valor in the quiet places. And peril in the whimsical.”

Species & Appearance

Sir Reginald is human, though few have seen him outside his armor. He wears a shining, well-kept suit of plate mail at all times, meticulously polished and complete with helmet, gauntlets, and chainmail accessories.

His armor gleams in all seasons, regardless of weather. Some say it must be enchanted to resist rust. He insists it’s “merely cared for with purpose.”

He carries a real, full-length sword named Valorheart, which he treats with the reverence of a sacred relic. It is always sheathed at his hip and has never been drawn in public—though he has threatened to draw it over parking disputes and “dishonorably loud chewing.”

Personality

Sir Reginald is honorable, formal, earnest, and completely out of sync with modern life. Every interaction is delivered as though addressing a monarch, and every conflict is treated with the gravity of an impending siege.

He believes in:

  • Respecting codes of conduct

  • Defending the innocent

  • Punctuality

  • The power of a firm yet courteous stare

He never jokes. But he sometimes sighs dramatically.

Despite his rigidity, he is well-loved by the townsfolk—his unwavering sincerity and dedication inspire respect, affection, and the occasional side-eyed chuckle.

Profession

As Snowdrift Bay’s official security guard, Sir Reginald handles everything from town hall disruptions to candy theft in the community center. His presence is both commanding and baffling—especially when he insists on resolving conflicts with “terms of honorable negotiation.”

Duties include:

  • Patrolling public squares

  • Enforcing non-existent curfews

  • Preventing disputes between residents and mischievous wildlife

  • Supervising holiday parades with ceremonial stoicism

He keeps a leather-bound notebook labeled “Notable Breaches of Decorum.”

Relationships

  • Yorn: Reginald holds Yorn in the highest regard and refers to him as “The Sentinel of the North.” Their friendship is built on mutual silence, shared respect, and the occasional joint patrol. They’ve never spoken more than five words at a time during their walks.

  • Elara: He calls her “My Lady of the Veiled Dusk.” They share a fondness for quiet conversation and obscure historical literature. He once wrote her a formal letter of apology after accidentally knocking over a display of poetry books.

  • Brenda: He respects her “youthful wit and formidable skepticism.” She often helps him interpret slang or modern references. He once tried to address her podcast as “a public scrollcast of regional import.”

  • Philip: Sir Reginald is deeply concerned for Philip’s “restless spirit” and has tried to anoint him as a knight of inner healing. Philip avoids this. Reginald remains undeterred.

  • Kenji: He and Kenji are kindred spirits. They have bonded significantly over their pursuit of living honorably and their shared love of swords. Kenji once got Reginald to eat a daikon radish which Reginald referred to as “crunchy devilry.”

Notable Lore & Moments

  • The Library Siege of ’19:
Reginald successfully retrieved an overdue library book from a reluctant teenager using formal parley and a hand-drawn coat of arms. He was awarded a bookmark in gratitude.

  • The Popcorn Fire Drill:
Mistook burnt popcorn for smoke from a dragon’s breath. Evacuated the community center in record time. Still insists he “acted with justified caution.”

  • The Valorheart Oath:
Once, when Barnaby challenged him to a limbo contest, Reginald solemnly laid Valorheart on the snack table and declared, “Tonight, I bend—but I do not break.” He lost. With honor.

Quirks and Secrets

  • Sleeps in his armor on a straw mattress “for discipline.”

  • Writes poetry under a pseudonym (Sir Hearthelm). Only Elara knows.

  • Refuses to use elevators, calling them “vertical enchantment traps.”

  • Keeps a daily ledger of the town’s “moral weather.”

  • Has memorized the entire Snowdrift Bay community charter and carries a pocket-sized annotated copy.
