Placido Peacock

Origins

Placido Peacock rose to fame in the Snowdrift Bay social scene as a master of spectacle, crafting some of the most elaborate events in town history—elevated soirées, themed galas, and several flash-mob brunches that people still argue about at dinner.

He didn’t start alone, though. He built his name alongside Fabian Flamingo, his original partner in what was once called Birds of a Feather Events.

They were a legendary duo.

Until they weren’t.

Placido took credit for one of Fabian’s more ambitious ideas and used it to launch a solo career, complete with front-page praise and a mayoral award. Fabian was never credited.

That betrayal sparked a feud so dramatic it nearly upstaged the Winter Solstice Spectacular. Nearly.

Species & Appearance

Placido is an anthropomorphic peacock, tall, lithe, and dressed in perfectly coordinated ensembles that always match the event theme—even if he wasn’t invited.

His feathers fan in glorious, radiant arcs when he’s excited—or annoyed. His voice is rich, affected, and so theatrical that every sentence feels like it should be followed by applause.

He smells faintly of rosewater, glitter glue, and ambition.

Personality

Placido is vain, hyper-competitive, articulate, and obsessed with perfection.

He thrives on attention, command, and spectacle. He can be dismissively cruel, and he is ruthlessly self-promoting, fully convinced that no one else can execute his “vision.”

He:

  • Speaks in dramatic flourishes

  • Treats minor tasks like Broadway finales

  • Cannot stand to be upstaged—especially by Fabian

He is also remarkably competent. Beneath the ego is a master planner who can coordinate fireworks, ribbon dancers, and a goat chorus without breaking a sweat.

Profession

Placido is a high-end event planner, hosting everything from weddings to galas to competitive themed picnics. His company, Peacock Productions, is both feared and revered for its:

  • Intricate guest lists

  • Zero-margin error tolerances

  • Mandatory sparkle quotas

He once postponed an entire masquerade because the moonlight “wasn’t flattering enough.”

Of late, Placido also hosts the popular Plumes & Doom fashion-themed reality competition/combat sport. The show has been described as “a glitter-drenched fever dream pitting designers, wrestlers, and interpretive dancers against each other in challenges that somehow always involve rhinestones and sabotage.”

Relationships

  • Fabian Flamingo (Archrival): Once his business partner and closest collaborator. Their split was legendary. Fabian still refuses to speak to him unless legally required. Placido refers to Fabian as “That Feathery Fraud” and sends passive-aggressive floral arrangements every solstice.

  • Clyde: Placido and Clyde do not get along, mostly due to Clyde’s relationship with Fabian. They once shared a cab ride that ended in a full dance-off argument.

  • Mayor Llama: Placido insists the mayor has “terrible taste but a good heart.” The mayor calls him “Sir Sparklestorm.” Placido pretends to hate it. He doesn’t.

  • Brenda: Brenda once tried to get an honest interview from him. She left with a signed headshot, and no usable quotes.

  • Philip: Thinks Placido is “too much,” but secretly admires his organizational prowess. Placido once called him “haunting in a provincial sort of way.”

Notable Lore & Moments

  • The Bubble Ball Fiasco:
Coordinated a party with thousands of floating bubbles. Unfortunately, the fog rolled in. A dozen guests were trapped in shimmering confusion for hours.

  • The “Plumage Parade Showdown”:
Accidentally scheduled an event next to Fabian’s. They engaged in a full-off-the-books battle of visuals and velvet. It ended with a lighting grid collapse and a tie.

  • The Petal Reversal:
During the Tulip Festival, he demanded all petals fall counterclockwise. It worked. No one knows how.

Quirks and Secrets

  • Keeps a feather curler in every coat pocket “just in case”

  • Has a portrait of himself in every room of his home—each signed

  • Believes his own autobiography should be mandatory reading for event interns

  • Sleeps in a silk nest under a light-dimming chandelier

  • Once tried to trademark the phrase “Elegance Is Mandatory”
