Mayor Llama

Origins

Mayor Llama has been mayor of Snowdrift Bay for… well, no one really remembers. No one bothers to clarify because each election, he continues to win in a landslide. He also almost exclusively runs unopposed, but that’s neither here nor there.

After his first victory, he appeared in the middle of Llama Plaza, wearing a sash that simply read “MAYOR”, giving a rousing speech about community spirit and the urgent need for a glitter slide into town hall. By the time anyone questioned it, he had already implemented a paperless pigeon messaging system and scheduled three town-wide festivals.

The town council, confused but charmed, agreed unanimously:

“We could do worse.”

And so began the Era of Llama.

Species & Appearance

Mayor Llama is a fully anthropomorphic llama, upright, shaggy, and expressive, with long lashes and a perpetual look of dramatic urgency. His wool is fluffy and cream colored, occasionally dyed in streaks depending on the holiday.

He wears tailored suits (often partially rumpled), a glittery gold “MAYOR” sash that never leaves his torso, and a rotating collection of themed accessories: top hats, monocles, protest scarves, and ceremonial capes.

His movements are flamboyant. His voice is high-energy, deeply sincere, and delivered at a volume reserved for parade marshals and people falling down wells.

Personality

Mayor Llama is grandiose, theatrical, impulsive, and absolutely devoted to the town of Snowdrift Bay. He lives and governs through pure emotion and inspiration, with little interest in logistics or follow-through.

He is:

  • A dreamer with a clipboard

  • A disaster with a megaphone

  • A walking whirlwind of ideas, none of which are vetted before implementation

He’s not in it for the power—he truly, earnestly wants to make life better for the townsfolk. Even if that means installing synchronized fountains shaped like Whoopi Goldberg without consulting the plumbing department.

Profession

Mayor Llama has served as the town’s beloved (if confusing) mayor for an unknown number of terms. His initiatives have included:

  • Weekly “Creative Ordinance Jams”

  • Public “Applause Breaks” in Llama Plaza

  • A failed but passionate attempt to rebrand the town as “Snowdrift Sparkletown”

  • The institutionalization of butterscotch as the official town flavor

  • An initiative called “Let’s All Just Feel Big Feelings Together” which included interpretive screaming booths

He holds open office hours in the form of surprise conga lines through Cobblestone Square.

Relationships

  • Yorn: Mayor Llama adores Yorn. He sees Yorn as both a moral compass and a source of deep comfort. He refers to him reverently as “our noble furry sentinel” and once tried to dedicate a statue in his honor made entirely out of repurposed sleds. Yorn declined. Gently.

  • Elara: He calls her “The Whispering Council of the Night” and regularly invites her to head up “serious tone enforcement” at town meetings. She ignores these requests. He admires her greatly and fears her moderately.

  • Philip: Thinks Philip is “a living metaphor” and deeply marketable. Once tried to build a haunted mirror maze themed around him. Philip unplugged the fog machine.

  • Brenda: He sees her as a “ferocious truth-teller with podcast potential.” She threatens to file restraining orders on a semi-monthly basis. He considers it flirtatiously adversarial. It’s not.

  • Spike: His co-conspirator in big, bold, half-baked ideas. The two once tried to launch a sky parade with zero sky clearance. It ended in beautiful chaos.

  • Glenn (Town Lawyer): Mayor Llama trusts Glenn to protect the town from the consequences of his more avant-garde ideas. He considers Glenn “the silent chisel carving sanity into my marble.” Glenn prefers not to acknowledge this description but doesn’t disagree.

Notable Lore & Moments

  • The Canoe Trial:
Mayor Llama accidentally granted legal personhood to a canoe during a proclamation spree. When the canoe was found not guilty in a courtroom trial, he wept openly and shouted, “I believed in you, Justice!”

  • Normalization Crisis:
Suffered a midlife crisis and tried to “return to his roots” by attempting to become a perfectly ordinary llama. Was eventually restored after Yorn gave him a lecture on aging gracefully. Still keeps a framed photo of his “low wool point” as a reminder of humility.

  • Jury Duty Chaos:
Tried to oversee jury selection, accidentally seated a rake, and gave an impassioned speech about the nobility of household tools. Was overruled by a marionette judge operated by invisible strings. Applauded anyway.

Quirks and Secrets

  • Keeps a list titled “Ideas So Good They Frighten Me” hidden in a drawer beneath a chocolate bar and six glitter pens

  • Never removes his sash. There are rumors it’s part of his fur now

  • Believes all government forms should be scented

  • Uses interpretive dance to express disappointment

  • Once tried to adopt a pigeon and named it “Sir Featherford of Budget Committee”
