Brenda
Origins
Brenda has always been in Snowdrift Bay.
She grew up here—though no one is entirely sure with whom. When asked, she just shrugs and says,
“Aunts. Or maybe retired acrobats. It's fuzzy.”
What’s clear is that from a young age, Brenda was the kind of girl who organized movie nights in her treehouse, corrected the librarian's shelving system, and built elaborate cardboard sets in her backyard for one-woman performances of The Mummy.
She’s a lifer in Snowdrift Bay—but not in a stuck way. She chose to stay. Because where else do weather forecasters cry about metaphors, and yetis write opinion pieces?
Physical Description
Brenda is instantly recognizable thanks to her vibrant purple hair, which she dyes herself and touches up with meticulous care. She wears stylish boho-chic outfits she mostly finds on consignment, boots she can stomp in, and has several simple yet eye-catching tattoos.
She’s expressive, snarky, and fiercely cool without trying to be. Her makeup is usually just eyeliner and smudges of sleep deprivation.
Her eyes are sharp and bright. Her laugh is loud and unguarded. Her resting face is somewhere between “mildly skeptical” and “about to make fun of you.”
Personality
Brenda is confident, clever, and wildly charming—except when it comes to her feelings.
She’s the kind of person who can handle interviews with ghosts, get a vending machine un-stuck with just a hip-bump, and explain genre theory in under sixty seconds—but she absolutely cannot, will not, and refuses to acknowledge the mess of emotion she has for her best friend and roommate, Philip.
She insists they’re “just co-hosts.”
She makes fun of his horror rants but listens to every word.
She gives him birthday gifts with tiny inscriptions he never notices.
Everyone in town knows she loves him. Everyone but Philip. And even that’s debatable.
Profession
Brenda is the co-host of the popular local podcast Bay Chats, which she started with Philip “as a bit” and now runs with deep care.
She produces, edits, and promotes the show—staying up late with headphones on and yelling at her laptop when it crashes at 2 a.m. again.
She also works part-time at the town’s community center, running film nights, zine-making workshops, and semi-accidental group therapy sessions disguised as storytelling circles.
Relationships
Philip (Roommate & Absolutely-Not-Crush):
Her closest person. They share an apartment, a podcast, a weirdly specific grocery list, and decades of romantic tension that absolutely everyone else can see.
She teases him constantly, covers for his meltdowns, and edits out the parts of their podcast where he says things like “love is a distant concept.”
She claims she doesn’t like him “like that.”
Her browser history disagrees.Elara: Total respect. Style icon. Occasional wine-and-book night partner.
Beatrice: DIY buddies. They once built a haunted terrarium together.
Oyuki: She says Oyuki is “terrifying in the best way.”
Yorn: Protective older brother vibes. She trusts him more than almost anyone.
Ramses: Their dynamic is best described as “roast battles and emotional support.”
